Thereabouts Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

So we're behind this bus this morning and there's this sign that says, "DANGER do not turn in front of this bus."  So we're sitting there thinking, "You can never pass this bus."  Somehow this caused some distress on our part.  Buses don't go very fast and it's kinda nice, when you get a chance and it's safe and all, to zip around these barn-sized conveyances.  But according to this sign you can't do it.  Nope, sorry...  We're still behind it...  The sign says "San Fernando 12 miles..."

Clear and not nearly as cold.  Amazing what a few degrees will do.  20+ miles visibility.  Winds are offshore by 3.6kts and the sea surface is smooth.  The air temp is a cool 52.9˚, but up 6.7˚ from yesterday.  The water is 54.9˚ and going for 55!  Low tide is 7:45am +1.7' and high tide will follow at 1:15pm +3.4'.  We have a SW swell out of 236˚ at 1.3 barely breaking feet.  Translate that to 6" on the Danger Boy Ankle Slapper Scale or the "D-BASS."

We had this great idea about photographing Birdie and Oscars work shoes.  They're typically covered with weeks of resin drippings and look like something you might see in the Museum of Modern Art.  So we come waltzing in with our camera and it turns out that they had just changed the tape on their shoes and they looked pretty damn clean.  Damn!  But not to worry...  Our plan is to maybe do a progression.  So we'll start here...
