Massey-Ferguson Friday Surf & Culture Report

W anted to clarify part of the image we ran yesterday (#1).  We mainly wanted to note the disparity between the listed conditions and the actual ocean and atmospheric temps on the left.  But on the right hand side of the photo was a diagram depicting rip currents and how to successfully navigate them.  Some readers thought this described a mushroom cloud and the ensuing vortexes.  Apparently the person on the top off the cloud was being blown to kingdom come.  Clearly we are not suggesting that one might "swim" out of such an event... M ore gray, limited visibility, less than 5 miles and fog/haze/overcast.  Nagging winds out of the west by 3 to 6kts and the sea surface is nicked.  The air was 63.0 º  and the water is 62.1 º .  Low tide was at 7:44am +-0.0' and high tide follows at 3:05pm +3.5'.  It's a SW swell out of 230 º  at 3.9' and it's a closed ou...

Chalk It Up To Thursday Surf & Culture Report

M ore gray out there this morning with 10 miles visibility and winds out of the south 2 to 6kts.  The sea surface was textured.  The air temp was 61.0 º  and the water is 61.2 º  (more on that later.)  Low tide was at 7:00am -0.2' and high tide followed at 2:11pm +3.3'.  It's a SSW swell out of 198 º  at 3.6' and it was a crashy 3' to 4'.  This group (#1) of soft-topped chargers were hell bent on amusing the folks on the pier.  Proving there are endless ways to go over the falls...  B obby Warchola is fond of railing on the Lifeguards for not posting the surf conditions or posting erroneous stats.  We had to agree with him this morning when they posted the air as 68 º  and the water as 65 º  (#2).  In their defense they did get the rip tide stuff right.  Although they didn't mention that, by the time you swim out of the rip you are p...
