Like Thunder, Lightning Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

"He could start a party in an empty room, and he often did."
Donald Dewar

Yesterday the rain passed through, there was a rainbow (#1) and we thought, "Okay, there you have it."  But this morning we were greeted by thunderclaps and distant lightning.  The lifeguards were running down the beach telling everyone to get off the sand and into somewhere less exposed.  While clouds gathered visibility was 16 miles.  Winds were out of the SW by 1 to 4kts and the sea surface was oily bumps.  The air temperature was 71.0º and the water is 73.8º.  High tide was at 8:16am +4.3' and low tide will be at 1:03pm +2.4'.  It's a slimy SSW swell out of 195º at 4.3' and it was a solid 2' to 3' in Hermosa, where they hadn't posted the water quality signs like they did in Redondo.  Go figure...

Why are all of these people laughing? (#2)  Might be that they're a little giddy from the altitude of this Escher inspired tower that Morgan and Christian rented while their house is getting the mold removed.  Or there's that cool rainbow behind them (#1 again), OR the sunset in front of them (#3) was spectacular even by our high standards...
