Lost Boys & Co... W elcome sports fans to this year's Autumnal Equinox!  All things being equal this has started out as a great example of equality.  We'll check this evening... H ere (#1) we have an excellent shot of the beach this morning!  We have a teeny Professor on the left looking to the max visibility of 15 miles and checking out the buoys way over on the right.  You can see those Toy Story clouds looming, but ample sunshine as well.  Winds were light first onshore then off.  Great for paddling.  The air temperature was 65.0 º and the water is 73.2 º .  High tide was at 8:20am +4.3' and low tide will be at 1:27pm +2.4'.  It's a SW swell out of 223 º  at 3.0' and it was 2' to 3' bouncing on the beach.  Thanks to Christian Stutzman for the great photo! A  beautiful morning here in Lotus Land.  This sunrise (#1) seemed to need musical accompaniment.  15 miles visibility with offshore winds 3 to 4 kts.  The sea surface was smooth.  The air temp was 63.0 º  and the water is a delightful 73.0 º .  One tide, high at 1:13pm +4.8'.  We have a SSW swell out of 194 º  and it was 2' to 3' and was better before the tide got too high... Norman Douglas O ne of the original "Lost Boys" was Mark "SeaWolf" Hall.  He was on some of the early treks to Saladitas and the Ranch.  Here he is with his bride to be Melissa (#1).  They're going to tie the knot in Troncones and try to get some surf in between the nuptials!  Saladitas in February sounds great! Y ou know how you feel the first time you get a legit noseride, or an in and out tube, or a ride longer than 5 seconds in Hermosa.  In photo #1 you can see JuJu (with the purple Barahona) running out of the water to tell Coach Frank that she had gotten a solid hang five and rode it out!  She works hard and it's paying off!  She'll have a chance to surf against some strong competition in the Kickoff Classic maybe as early as next week! C loudy this morning and a few rain drops fell unexpectedly.  Winds were offshore at 2 to 3kts and the sea surface had a light ripple.  The air temperature was 68.0 º and the water is 72.7 º.  Low tide was at 5:42am +2.6' and high tide was at 12:30pm +5.1'.  SSW swell is back out of 197 º at 2.6' and that's about what it was with some racers running down the beach... Lost Boys & Co... W e have this calendar that has these little numbers next to the beginning of the week. Like this week was 38 . It took us a minute but we finally figured out that "38" is the number of weeks since the beginning of the year! We never really thought about what number of weeks have transpired, but of course we can't say that anymore... W hy are all these boards on the beach (#1)? Did a rogue wave come and wash everyone in? Read on... Cloudy this morning with 10 miles visibility. Winds were offshore by 3 to 5kts and the sea surface was textured. The air temperature was 68.0º and the water is 73.8º. Low tide was at 5:11am +1.5' and high tide will be at 11:30am +5.6'. It's a straight west swell out of 281º at 3.3' and it was slamming on the sand at 3' to a solid 4'. It was so crunchy that the surf team decided it was in the best interest of their necks and spinal chords to go body surfing. Not that that was muc...

Robert Burns  (If you say this fast it almost makes sense, if you say it with a Scottish burr, (imagine Robin Williams) then you have to nod "YES!" A nother beautiful morning in LaLa Land.  Bright sun and 10 miles visibility.  Wind were strong offshore 3 to 5kts and the sea surface had that offshore brush on it.  The air at checkout was already 72.0 º  and the water is 73.6 º .  High tide was at 10:05am +5.6' and low tide will be at 4:06pm +0.6'.  There were these runners (#1) creating these perfect lefts zipping down the beach at 3' to almost 4'.  The SSW swell is out of 205 º  so it had a little bend to it... Y ou can tell the competition season is almost here when the jerseys (#2) get washed and ready for practice heats.  You have to believe that red looks best on y...

W e like it hot.  It doesn't get that hot around here most of the time, but this is edging into our wheelhouse.  Yep, a scorcher!  So it started out this morning at 76.0 º  and the water was 73.8 º .  Winds were warm offshore 2 to 6kts and designed to dry you out.  Stay hydrated.  High tide was at 9:40am +5.4' and low tide follows at 3:24pm +0.9', when we plan to be on the beach soaking in some cool water.  The swell is out of the SW 225 º  at 2.6' and that 's about the size of it.  Looked fabu from the Hermosa Pier (#1). W e thought these were anchovies (#2) but nay nay!  They are forage fish.  Maybe anchovies can be forage fish, or grunion, or sardines?  Maybe 'Nupes can weigh in on this! ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it" The Professor!!
