Just Coast Wednesday Surf & Culture Report
Lost Boys & Co...
Check this out. My step-uncle in Oregon (Barbara's brother) has been hand-crafting this board for me over the past 2 years. He's making one for my Dad, too. He doesn't surf, but loves working with wood and just decided to bust these out. Can't wait to take delivery of this fine craftsmanship! He ordered the frpames at the bottom, but then chose to source all the wood for the deck, base, and rails himself. All of those parts were custom crafted. He then found a glasser in the Portland area and had the finishing touches put on. I see an Oregon road trip coming up (this baby isn't going to be shipped or flown)!
Aloha,
Paul
How'd you like to have one of these babies headed your way? Then there's the real conundrum, do you hang it right away or do you take it out and risk dinging it or even just putting wax on it? We'll report on how the Miloe's handle this dilemma...
40 years ago this would'a been a foggy day! Sorry too much pavement, still visibility was only 4 miles and no sun visible. Winds were on from the get-go by 2.3kts and the sea surface had a bit of texture. The air temperature was 62.5˚ and it's supposed to get warmer during the week. The water temp is 61.5˚ and you can now eave the booties at home. Low tide was at 6:52am +1.1' and high tide will be at 12:51pm +2.9'. We have a SW swell out of 234˚ at 2.0', but it's only half of that on the beach. It's supposed to get marginally bigger as we struggle through the week...
