So the Dutch Girls are in town and they posed with the posse at Sapphire after a few tries in the surf.  From L to R:  Nikki, Brendan, Marijn, Christian, LoLa, Jah, Ginny, Lina and Milly.  A beautiful day, with 10 miles visibility under hazy skies.  Winds were light onshore by 1 to 3kts., but the sea surface was bumped from yesterday's wind.  The air temperature at checkout was 64.4º and the water was 67.8º as advertised.  Low tide was at 6:17am +0.0' and high tide clocked in at 12:41pm +5.1'.  We have a solid SSW swell out of 192º at 3.3' and it was 3' to a little fatter and better than it looked.  Just ask the Dutch Girls...

Lost Boys & Co... W e talked about how much building is going on in China.  There are so many new bridges across the Yangtze that they haven't named them all yet!  There are between 50 and a hundred going up between Yichang and Chongqing alone.  In our first photo, the bridge and road are so new that the road crosses the bridge and then doesn't go anywhere!  We watched them welding the superstructure in #2 and to our amazement we watched a guy put on a belt with eyes on the hips and get hoisted up a couple of hundred feet to near the top of this tower.  No nets, no additional straps, no hat - just flying there with a portable welding rig, sparks flying.  We actually saw guys spot welding stuff without dark glasses!  There are some tough guys up there!  Dude, you like gotta have a hat... A beautiful morning, with a few big clouds bumping along and 20 miles visibility.  Winds started onshore from the crack and they were light at checkout...

Another Foggy Friday Surf & Culture Report

Teach A Fish To Fly Friday Surf & Culture Report

Wouldn't it be nice to have some surf to report about?  The simple answer is "yes."  But, and it's a big BUT, we're going to forge ahead and give you the particulars anyway.  5 miles visibility and pretty hazy conditions although it looks like the sun is trying to melt the haze.  Winds were offshore by 1 to 3kts. and the sea surface is smooth.  The air temp was 64.5º and the water is 65.8º.  High tide is at 10:14am +5.6' and low tide follows at 4:55pm +0.6' (Maybe good for a walk on the hard sand.  Don't step on a bee.  Been lots of them on the shallow sand.)  SSW swell out of 206º at 2.3' and it was half of that on the beach.  Just to whet your appetite we've included this shot of the Professor in Nicaragua at "Soupbowls", or "Chicken Soup", or "Noodles".  They were all lefts...
