Lost Boys & Co...

Don't miss a chance to ride in the "Wiggly Bus" when you're in America.  Marco's back in town and he brought his crew to share the fun.  So Raquel, Sara, Marco and Pedro (he's in the back) piled into the bus and went to (where else?) Brother's for brekky.  Captain Don took them for a sail mid-day and they all got to steer "No Way" around the bay.  Dinner was a fabulous affair at ZoĆ«'s and by the end of the evening Sara was wondering if she was in a movie...  Well, yes, but Chuck owns the rights and Clark is producing it.  Everyone has a part...

Overcast, breaking blue as the sun struggles through the clouds and 10 miles visibility.  Winds were almost offshore as they blew from the SE at 2.2kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temp was 64.6Ėš and the water was 71.2Ėš at the buoy and 74Ėš at the Hermosa Pier.  You gotta jump in despite the fact that the waves are teeny.  Low tide was at 6:23am +0.3' and high tide will follow at 12:49pm +5.5'.  We have a SSW swell, but it's moving north to 216Ėš and at 2.6' it could get twice as big as the 1' we now are enjoying...  or not...

Out there in the inner Outer Banks, Boomfwappa continues to relax and contemplate the view from his porch...  We can only hope the beer is cold...  really cold...

Tomorrow:  Happy Hour:  5:30pm:  Bluewater Grill.  Special guests!  No, the Portuguese kids are in 'Vegas.

W hen you"re on the road essential services are sometimes at a premium.  Take the case of Cat Simmons who had scheduled a skin cancer surgery only to have a surf trip come up and whisk him away.  But no worries!  Here at our "Mobile Auxiliary Surf Hospital" (M.A.S.H.) our anesthesiologist Dr. Souther and head surgeon Prof. Dr. Paine went right to work! (#1)  An outpatient procedure, he was back in the water for the afternoon session.  A biopsy revealed that instead of being cancerous the lesion was a bit of frijolĆ© from breakfast.  Better safe than sorry, we say. 10 miles visibility under mostly clear skies this morning.  Winds were off by 3 to 5kts and the sea surface was brushed smooth.  The air was 45.0Āŗ and felt like 32, while the sea temp was 57.7Āŗ and felt just like that.  High tide was at 10:51am +4.9' and low tide follows at 5:47pm +-0.0'.  It's a west swell out of 262Āŗ at 2.6' and it was an amazing 3' to 5...

Teach A Fish To Fly Friday Surf & Culture Report

Wouldn't it be nice to have some surf to report about?  The simple answer is "yes."  But, and it's a big BUT, we're going to forge ahead and give you the particulars anyway.  5 miles visibility and pretty hazy conditions although it looks like the sun is trying to melt the haze.  Winds were offshore by 1 to 3kts. and the sea surface is smooth.  The air temp was 64.5Āŗ and the water is 65.8Āŗ.  High tide is at 10:14am +5.6' and low tide follows at 4:55pm +0.6' (Maybe good for a walk on the hard sand.  Don't step on a bee.  Been lots of them on the shallow sand.)  SSW swell out of 206Āŗ at 2.3' and it was half of that on the beach.  Just to whet your appetite we've included this shot of the Professor in Nicaragua at "Soupbowls", or "Chicken Soup", or "Noodles".  They were all lefts... Surfing With The Barbarians Friday Surf & Culture Report

W e were watching Brendan Simmons (#1) in the water the other day and were thinking he reminded us of someone, then it donned on us that it was Donald Takayama.  That same quickness and cat-like approach, then a big move at the end of the wave to put a cap on the entire proceedings.  He also rides a number of different shapes like Takayama did, but he might be a better shortboarder than D.T. T he ghastly crumb foggies were obscuring the surfline this morning.  Winds were variable to 3kts. and the sea surface was smooth.  The air was a soggy 51.3Āŗ and the water is 57.7Āŗ.  High tide is at 10:41am +5.7' and low tide follows at 5:57pm -0.5'.  It's a typical WSW swell out of 257Āŗ at 3.3' and it was (according to people who claimed to see it) 3' to 4'...
