Santa's Surfing To Town Friday Surf & Culture Report🎄
Lost Boys & Co...
A little hat goes a long way... Here we have LoLa (#1) doing her Slash impersonation as she awaits her red and green yogurt on the Friday before Christmas. Just in case you wondered, it took us a lot of pleading to get her to fluff-up her hair and don the hat and shades...
A brilliantly clear day here on the first full day of winter! 20+ miles of visibility and nary a cloud in the sky. Winds were off by 3.3kts and the sea surface was smooth. The air was a frigid 39.7 and the water was 61.2, brrrrr... High tide was at 10:34am +5.1' and low tide will follow at 6:03pm +0.1'. We have a small west swell out of 260º at 2.0' and there were some nice little peelers coming through. Enough to warm the cockles of your heart...
Okay, here are numbers 9 and 10 in the 10 things under a hundred dollars to get the surfers on your list...
Changing Mat/Bag ($29.95)
Taking care of your wetsuit is important, and when getting in and out of your suit, it's easy to accelerate the inevitable process of wear and tear. Using a changing mat you can protect the soft neoprene of a wetsuit from pavement, gravel, and other rough surfaces. As a bonus, once you're out of your wetsuit you can cinch it up and it becomes a water resistant bag.
Traction Pad ($31.95 – $39.95)
Traction Pads are used on the tail of a surfboard(typically a shortboard) to increase grip and allow for more extreme maneuvers. They aren't easily interchangeable so I would make sure the person you're getting this for has a new board without a traction pad or is getting a new board soon. Not every surfer uses traction pads, but if they do and they buy a lot of surfboards, they will definitely find it to be a great gift. We've been using a pad on the tail of our long boards and they'll help save your toes from getting blistered and sore...

"You may be an undigested bit of beef, a blot of mustard, a crumb of cheese, a fragment of underdone potato. There's more of gravy than of grave about you, whatever you are!" Said Scrooge (#2) to the poor counter-boy Ivan Cratchit... But You're probably just a B-Avocado...
It's what we've all been waiting for! Here comes Santa Claus with his surfing elves! And from all of us at the Surf & Culture Report, a MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and yours...
