Mr. Clutch Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co... W e got so close to actually checking the surf this morning when our clutch cable decided it had had enough and unwound like a cheap kite string.  We managed to limp it to King Harbor Auto Repair only to find that they're on vacation this week.  Yeah, well, looks like we're back in the VW Bus repair business.  Note: we ordered 2 cables.  One for next time... W indy this morning and Doc says we're not missing anything.  10miles visibility under hazy skies.  Winds are onshore 3 to 5kts and appear to be ramping up during the day.  The air was 61.9 º  and the water could be warmer at 63.0 º .  High tide is at 10:00am +3.5' and low tide will be at 1:50pm +2.7'.  It's a SSW swell out of 194 º at 3.3', but it's being beaten down by the wind and we'll call it 2' to 3' outside. W ho does this? (#1)  Doc said one word:  Humans. ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it" The Professor!!

Large Mouthed Yellow Finned Croaker Monday Surf & Culture Report

Image
Lost Boys & Co... Yes, here (#1) we have Lance with the Yellow Finned Croaker that he hauled in this weekend.  He might have had a little help from Mom and Anupa.  If you were his size this fish would look pretty darned big!  Also turns out that Lance has a likewise large crush on Anupa.  She got up to get a burrito and Lance was hoping she'd return and be okay.   Gray and 12 miles visibility under hazy overcast skies.  Winds were light onshore 1 to 3kts and the sea surface was sporting a light ripple. The air temperature at checkout was 63 º  and the water at the buoy is 63.3 º .  High tide is at 9:28am +3.3' and low tide will be not so low at 1:07pm +2.8'.  It's a SSW swell out of 192 º  at 3.3' and it was 2' to 3' at your local pier... ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it" The Professor!!

Foaming At The Mouth Friday Surf & Culture Report

Image
Lost Boys & Co... H ere (#1) we have a member of the local citizenry pointing out the point of the exercise this morning.  Yes it was the annual boogie & bodyboard extravaganza in which alternate crafts are encouraged and bodies found themselves being flung through the air challenging each and every vestibular sense.  Naturally a fabulous time was had by all in what was described as a fitting celebration of the fourth. T he sun was trying to break through and waited until we got out of the water to peek out.  Winds were variable mostly out of the south, ruffling the waters.  The air was 65.5 º  and the water took a significant dip in the surfline to right around 65 º.  High tide was at 6:19am +2.8' and low tide follows at 10:38am 2.2'.  It was a south swell out of 187 º  at 4.3' and it was a solid 3' with a few bigger outsides. H ave a safe insane fourth and remember that the local constabulary is now using drones to identify larger than a...

Lost Boys & Co... H ere we have Clarke looking all sassy, with his No.1 Brother's mug and the Professor having to settle for #2.  That's the way the coffee grinds here in LaLa Land... Y eah well, it was trying to get sunny when we hit the water.  Evie and Michelle were trying out their latest surf moves and the wind started out offshore and got squirrely at 1 to 3kts.  The sea surface remained smooth.  The air temp was 63.7º and the water was the same at the buoy, but in the surfline it was close to 70 º .  Low tide was 9:52am +1.8' and high tide follows at 5:05pm +4.8'.  It was a SSW swell out of 202 º  at 3.0' and we'll give you that with some crashers on the outside. M añana will be the second annual Galactic Boogie Shorebreak Challenge.  Many of last year's gladiators will be returning so hone your best Hollywood moves and we'll see you at 7:30!  Parking might be a challenge, but you're up for it...  And find your fins!  You...

An Apple Fritter Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Image
Lost Boys & Co... T he most important thing to remember is to keep your fingers away from the jaws!  Everyone knows that Cobley's favorite snack is an apple fritter.  So when the Professor is in the right mood, instead of the mixed dozen doughnuts, it's apple fritters!  The bus smelled like apple fritters for two days! O vercast and not quite 10miles visibility.  Winds were light onshore 1 to 3kts with a bit of a wind line passing through periodically.  The sea surface was smooth to lightly textured.  The air temperature was 62.3º and the water is 62.1 º at the buoy.  The guards had it posted at 70 this morning and it felt close to that.  Low tide is at 9:13am +1.3' and high tide will be at 4:24pm +4.6'.  It's a SSW swell out of 195 º  at 2.3' and that's about the size of it... ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it" The Professor!!
