Labor Day Monday Surf & Culture Report
Lost Boys & Co...
At first glance there's nothing particularly special about this Cardon left, with the Professor sculling with that trailing arm to get a little extra speed... That is until you take a look to the right of the photo and see what appears to be a larinae-laridae or sea gull tearing down on him at about 30mph riding the swell effect, much like the pelicans do... It was a near miss, no wait, it was a near hit! Wouldn't a near miss be a hit?
A fine hot Labor Day as the sun rose on schedule and cleared the skies and left us with 20+ miles visibility. Winds were light out of the SSE and the sea surface was smooth. The air temperature was 69.8Ëš and the water was 72.1Ëš at the buoy rising to the highest we've ever recorded of 76.5Ëš at 2pm. Low tide was at 7:13am +2.4' and high tide will be at 2:16pm +4.9'. We have a SSW swell out of 195Ëš at 2.6' and it's a weak 2' at most spots...
Sometimes the waves at Cardon get a bit long. Here we have Sammy taking a sit-down through a bit of inside section to rest her legs. She's laughing because she's just realized it's not going to be as easy to get up as she thought...
