New Moon, Autumnal Equinox Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

"How many Portagees does it take to change a lightbulb?"  Marco says, "Two!" but the answer is actually one!  Except he can't do it today because it's a feast day and it will have to wait until tomorrow...  wait, that's a feast day too!  Let's try for Thursday...  Marco and the Professor hangin' out in the park eating linguiça sandwiches and drinking rosé wine...

A beautiful fall morning with 20+ miles visibility and clearing skies.  Winds were lightly onshore by 1.2kts and the sea surface was smooth and wet to the touch.  The air temperature was 65.5˚ and the water was 70.9˚.  High tide was at 9:29am +5.2' and low tide will be at 3:33pm +0.9'.  We have a fluctuating west swell out of 251˚ and it was 3.0' this morning and about 2' in the surfline...

There seems to be a bit of confusion about the equinox.  It was listed as September 23, 2:29 UTC.  That translates to 7:29pm September 22 in Los Angeles!  So, if your calendar says September 23, it's a little off for our GPS location.

Check out the positioning of the feet.  Both are perpendicular to the stringer, weight a little forward and knees bent for maximum projection.  A lesson in basics.  Our subject, none other than James Wheatley!

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
