Lost Boys & Co... I t's a hard job hauling stones around like that...  In El Salvador at the beach they make everything out of these stones.  Why?  Because they're all over the place!  During the rainy season they come rolling down the rivers and streams until they're all over the beach and, needless to say, under your feet.  But as soon as it clears up, the locals come down and collect them and use them for walls, paving streets and decorating...  Yes, you can throw them, but the locals throw them back...  Jetski holding things up... O kay, it really felt like winter this morning and we've got three and a half weeks before it's officially here!  The water is still 61.9 but the 51º water and the 3.9kts offshore wind brought the whole thing down a few notches.  A cloudy sky and 15 miles visibility with smooth seas.  High tide is at 7:52am +5.9' and low tide will be at 2:52pm -0.2'.  We have a 5.6' west swell out of 265º and it wa...

Lost Boys & Co... C apitan Donaldo is so casual that you might miss it when he goes into the tube.  #'s 1 & 2 show him ducking for a moment as he lets this little cylinder catch up to him... H ave to admit we thought of Danger Boy this morning as we gazed at the ocean and wondered if it rained hard enough last night to warrant a day out.  All you'd have to do is look at the outfall at 16th St. and know not to go...  10 miles visibility and cloudy almost rainy skies.  Winds strong out of the north at 7.9kts and the sea surface was chopped.  The air temperature was 57.3 and the water is 65.5.  Low tide was at 9:45am +4.2' and low tide will be at 3:07pm +2.5'.  We have a west swell out of 262º at 4.9' and it's 5' to 7' and looking a bit ragged in Hermosa... Lost Boys & Co... #1 describes Buck on his rail-to-rail transition down the line.  He had just spanked the lip and is now setting up a rather quick trim through these inside sections.  Hard to see how fast he's going here... A beautiful morning here in the So. Bay with sunny skies and offshore winds.  The surf is smaller, in the 2' to 3' range.  Supposed to get bigger tomorrow and Monday, but these things are always a bit vague...  Maybe if it's big enough you can make it Vogue... #2 shows Capitan Donaldo swinging a wide arc on this mushy peak to build some speed up for the bump.  The brown water and boat in the background make it look a bit like Indo.  It had rained gatos and perros the day before so things were still a bit muddy.  It rained so hard at Sunzal that the river was even with the road!  We were watching as it crested and in the middle of all the debris and flotsam came a Sony TV bobbing along the flow!  It was a big f...

Lost Boys & Co... M orgalini stretching a little one into a nice long double-up on the inside.  It started out as a two-footer and ended up shoulder high... A beautiful morning under clear skies and 20+ miles visibility.  Winds were offshore by 8.1kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air was a chilly 50.1 and the water was 64.6.  High tide was at 11:16am +5.9' and low tide will follow at 6:39pm -0.4'.  We have a west swell out of 265º at 3.9' but it was 3' to almost head high on the outsides.  Redondo surfed against Peninsula this morning and emerged victorious in a 112 to 55 point win!  #2 got complicated.  It started out with the Professor trying to get Hortensia to put her basket back on her head for a photograph.  Then he had to introduce Brian to her and that's when it got complicated.  There was electricity between them and before we knew what was going on the Professor had been nearly electrocuted.  He quickly pronoun...

S o we have three shots from our side trip to La Paz.  Starting out with Jetski doing a speed run after smacking the lip and setting up his trim.  He loved the surf, the water was warm, but the rocks bummed him out... M aybe the first day of winter, as we play it out here in Southern California.  All the way down to 47.5º this morning as the sun jumped into the firmament.  We had 15 miles visibility under mostly clear skies with winds out of the NE by 5.0kts and smooth seas.  The water is 65.5º and felt comparably warm compared to the air.  High tide was at 10:23am +6.4' and low tide will follow at 5:39pm -0.8' which is well after dark these days.  We have a west swell out of 271º at 4.9' and it was 4' to 6' with some fun waves... B uck stretching one on the inside.  A long wave, you ran it as long as you wanted the paddle back out to be.  Buck's favorite wave was Sunzal, where he got the Barahona pegged at top speed on ...

T he Dutch girls, Marijn and Milou, do a little vogueing for the camera at Optometrix on Rodeo Dr.  Since their names seem to be unpronounceable in the American idiom, we've devolved into calling them "M & M."  Visit Jetski at his office and check out some outrageous eyewear... U nstable weather this morning with 10 miles visibility and increasingly cloudy conditions.  Winds were out of the SSE at 1.9kts and the sea surface was a rolling bump.  The air temperature was 58.3 and the water is holding at 66.4.  High tide was at 9:36am +6.9' and low tide will be at 4:44pm -1.1'.  We have a west swell out of 261º at 4.9' and it was 4' to 6' with some dredging outsides... T he bump at Punta Roca and three guys out.  There were three guys out at one of the premiere spots of El Salvador.  They used it in "Big Wednesday" for Malibu.  We kept wondering, "Is it too small?"  (It was 3' to 4')  "Is it just crappy shape?"  (No, it was reeling down the line like it's supposed to...)  "Was everybody at work?"  We have no idea, but we pretty much had it to ourselves all morning...
