Cast Your Memory Back Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Here we are in the operating theater of the Casa Delfin Sonriente (#1.)  On the table is Rip.  We had been surfing "Needle Reef" on the left side of Manzanillo Bay out in front of the Hotel Eden.  On the outside it breaks left into the middle of the bay.  But there's a fast left on the inside along the rocks that's covered with those spiked-out purple urchins.  If you lose it and hit the rocks, you get pin cushioned.  We got some good rides and kept nudging deeper to the rocks.  Then Rip took off even deeper, made it half-way and then bottom-first hit the reef.  His ass looked like a purple porcupine attacked him.  By dinner time (where he ate standing) it was starting to get inflamed.  By dark he was begging for us to take them out.  Sea Wolf held the light, Go-Go held him down and the Professor picked out the spines.  It took forty-five minutes and we restored his cute little derriere to it's former glory...

10 miles visibility under overcast skies.  Light offshore winds 1 to 3kts and the sea surface was glassy.  The air was 66.3º and the water is 70.3º.  High tide was at 7:08am +3.7' and low tide will be at 10:36am +3.3'.  It's that same SSW swell out of 209º at 2.3' and it was 1' to 2' and some fun munchkin grinders...
