So there's that homeless guy and his toothless girlfriend that basically live under the pier.  This morning they were having a rather animated discussion that sounded pretty much like an argument.  He was cursing and must've dropped about 10+ F-Bombs in the course of his rant.  Now, if you're on the RUHS Surf Team and the coaches hear you drop an F-Bomb it's an automatic two push-ups.  Hunter S. comes sauntering up and without batting an eye says, "How many push-ups is that?"  He got the snappy comeback award for the morning!

Seven miles visibility under overcast, partly cloudy, hazy sun skies.  Winds were offshore by 1 to 3kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temp was 63.9º and the water is 70.7º.  High tide was at 9:09am +4.4' and low tide follows at 2:15pm +2.0'.  It's a SSW wind swell out of 204º at 3.3' and it was 3' to 4' and close intervals.

miles on the day that he made the last payment!  The milestones were properly celebrated...

Lost Boys & Co... W e talked about how much building is going on in China.  There are so many new bridges across the Yangtze that they haven't named them all yet!  There are between 50 and a hundred going up between Yichang and Chongqing alone.  In our first photo, the bridge and road are so new that the road crosses the bridge and then doesn't go anywhere!  We watched them welding the superstructure in #2 and to our amazement we watched a guy put on a belt with eyes on the hips and get hoisted up a couple of hundred feet to near the top of this tower.  No nets, no additional straps, no hat - just flying there with a portable welding rig, sparks flying.  We actually saw guys spot welding stuff without dark glasses!  There are some tough guys up there!  Dude, you like gotta have a hat... A beautiful morning, with a few big clouds bumping along and 20 miles visibility.  Winds started onshore from the crack and they were light at checkout...

Another Foggy Friday Surf & Culture Report

Sometimes On Friday/Saturday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co... G reat group at Siblings Burrito Palace this morning! (#1)  Caroline joined us all the way from Atwater to catch a few gray ones. C loudy and 12 miles visibility.  Winds were light out of the south by 2 to 3kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temp was 58.0 º and the water was 61.5 º .  Low tide was at 8:26am -0.6' and high tide follows at 4:00pm +3.4'.  SSW swell out of 202 º at 2.6' and it was 3' and some sharp little gray grinders... S mall surf doesn't have to mean lousy surf.  Here (#2) we have Sheamus Swift showing what you can do when you put your mind to it.  Sheamus got first place in the longboard division against Mira Costa on Thursday! ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it" The Professor!!
