  Lost Boys & Co... (Photos 1 & 2)  T his is only half the story...  In fact this is the second half of the story...  You do know that this only happens when the surf is knee high and low tide...  Julian now is one step closer to understanding surf dynamics... 12 miles visibility and partly cloudy skies.  Winds were onshore by 5.0kts and the sea surface had a light bump.  The air temp was 70.0 and the water at the buoy was 70.9, while Hermosa Pier registered 75!  Low tide was at 6:57am 0.0' and high tide will follow at 1:34pm +4.7'.  We have a shifting SSW swell out of 200º at 2.6' and that was just about it in the shorebreak this morning...   Lost Boys & Co... (#1)  T wo reasons why you know this event is going to get out of control...  possibly in a good way...  "If you don't have anything good to say, sit next to me."  Dorothy Parker O vercast this morning with soft onshore winds (3kts) and 10 miles visibility.  The sea surface was slightly bumped.  The air temperature was 66.9 and the water is 72.1 at the buoy and 74 at the Hermosa Pier.  Low tide was at 6:16am -0.5' and high tide will be at 12:47pm +4.8'.  We have a SW swell out of 236º at 2.3' and it was 2' to 2.5' and inconsistent.  A good morning for paddling and discussing current events. H appy hour this week will be at "Greenbelt" on the Hermosa Pier Plaza...  One thing we thought we'd never say, "The hummus is really good!"   Lost Boys & Co... I f you could draw a clean rail line like this, you might be a famous shaper yourself.  #1 Maestro Barahona in the pit making magic... S urf was small and gray.  1' to 2', but some little rollers that would launch you to the beach despite the overcast and gray seas...  Supposed to get better as the weekend approaches.  The only other thing you need to know is that the water is 74º... T urns out that in fifty years of surfing, Boomfwappa has never had a custom shaped blade (#2.)  That changed this afternoon... T he tale of the stringer:  Barahona 9'8" X 24" X 3½".  Part Legend, part UFO, could be the magic board...  Hmmm, sounds a lot like Boris' favorite Camo model...  Got to be a coincidence... ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it" The Professor!!

  Lost Boys & Co... "SA-LAWN KA R G" on the lawn at the Mar y Fuego Resort yesterday.  Mike Karg and his lovely wife Verena are in town and Jetsky feted the couple as Karg sheared the enthusiastic gathering.  The secret is, of course, to get it cut short enough now so that it's ready to cut again in October when he returns... O vercast this morning and 7 miles visibility.  Winds were light out of the SW by 3kts and the sea surface had a light bump to it.  The air temperature was 68.3 and the water is a delightful 73.2.  High tide was at 11:19am +4.7' and low tide will be at 4:30pm +1.6'.  We have a weak SSW swell out of 196º at 2.3' and it was about half of that on most beaches this morning...  The forecast looks pretty dismal until this weekend when the outer waters begin to have a bit of wind and the swell increases...  Be patient...   Lost Boys & Co... O ur woman of the hour Jah Morgan talks her bf KimberlySuds into this nice little roller just under the pier (#1).  Kimmy hasn't been surfing too long and got some nice ones to celebrate Jah's second year in a row of surfing everyday!  S o, the old saw is that "practice makes perfect."  We're thinking that there's something to that as Morgan gets a casual little ten (#2).  They say that it takes 10,000 hours to really get proficient at something.  Obviously Jah is putting in her time... H azy sun this morning and 12 miles visibility.  Winds were light and variable to 2.3kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temp was 68.9 and the water is 71.8 and warmer in the surfline.  High tide was at 9:07am +4.2' and low tide will follow at 2:00pm +1.7'.  We have a 3.6' swell out of a steep 202º SSW.  It was a fun 3' with some longer lefts and bumped little rights... I s this any way to treat the guest of honor?...

" W e who are about to walk the plank, salute you!"  Black Brendan, "Scourge of the Southern Cross®" doffs his cap at the crowd and salutes the judges (#1.)  Great little noseride, he spent a fair amount of time perched on the parrot's beak... H azy sun and 10 miles visibility.  Winds wee light out of the SE and the sea surface was smooth to almost glassy.  The air temp was 71.5 and the water is a delightful 70.9.  High tide was at 8:17am +3.9' and low tide will follow at 1:07pm +1.8'.  We have a SSW swell out of 203º at 3.9' and it was a solid 3' high tide rollers with a few bigger outsides... B ut his bon homme was short lived as his arch-nemesis Mr. Christian-Christian snuck up from his position aft (#2) and drew his sabre for a slash...  But not to be out-played, Black Brendan got away a shot and kept Mr. C-C at bay, in the bay, somebody bet on the bay, doo-dah, doo-dah... S o, we called our almaniacs and they tell us ...

Finn.  Snake received a heinous blow to the side and then ran against Mr. Bacallao in the shorebreak... 10 miles visibility this morning and a hazy yellow sun in the eastern sky.  Winds were shifty all morning but mostly out of the west by 1.1kts.  The sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 68.8 and the water was 70.3.  High tide was at 7:18am +3.6' and low tide will be at 12:09pm +1.9'.  We have a 3.6' SSW swell out of 199º and if it would just bend up around Catalina and Palos Verdes, we might get some good waves!
