Deep & Wide Thursday Surf & Culture Report
Lost Boys & Co...
Okay, we're not going to lie. We're fascinated by Capt. Don Congrejo's Polio Pond (CDCPP.) (#1) The undulating water, the foam, the futile attempts of the city to try and cut it off from the ocean. In the spirit of research, we plan to take samples of the water, skim the surface and collect foam for analysis. You won't believe this, but we're betting it's not as bad as it looks! (Anybody got a spare microscope?)
We got all crazy about the CDCPP and didn't comment on the brilliant sky (#2) and the weather coming in. You can see that it was 15 miles visibility and these great clouds bumping around. Now if you look at #1 & #2, you will see these rain cells all heading toward our pointy heads. The wind started blowing 6 to 8kts out of the SW, the sea got choppy and while we were under the umbrellas at Brothers it started to rain so hard it was reminiscent of the 3 margarita downpour when we were at Riviera Mex with Bruddah Miloe. We couldn't leave so we kept ordering... Meanwhile the air temp was 64.0º and the water is listed at 72.3º. A CDCPP filling high tide was at 7:41am +5.0' and low tide empties it at 1:41pm +1.5'. It's a buffeting SW swell out of 223º at 3.6' and it was a crashing 3 to 4' on the sand.
Rainbows are so magical! That is until you eat one (#3). She burped up gold coins until she had some coffee. NO WE WEREN'T GOING TO PICK THEM UP!
