Lost Boys & Co... S omehow we neglected to print Kevin Gilligan's photo (#1) of the "Spooky Surf" crew.  From L. to R. we have Burnsy, Toph, Scout and Zac as tourists who didn't know that it was against the law to bring your dog to the beach.  So someone called Superman (Aaron) to come down and spirit them away.  But before the "Man of Steel™" could concentrate on the doggie he got distracted by using his X-Ray vision to not only see through Anuba's and C-Missle's clothes, but down to their bones!  Jah Minion came to hang five with the Unicorn/Seahorse/Christiano.  No wait, Christiano was there with the Tin Man (Larry Dairy) and Psychedelic "Doc" Einstein.  A curious crew, but fun and funny...  Next year we're thinking a Garibaldi costume... Lost Boys & Co... " W hen the surf is uncooperative, the uncooperative go paddling."  Here (#1) we have the crew, Jah, Tarsan, Ronnie, LoLa, Burnsy and the Professor plying the waters of King Harbor and beyond for a little diversion due to lack of surf.  To her credit Jah kept her streak alive by galloping into some knee slappers at Ainsworth, while LoLa and Burnsy scampered down to the jetty and back.  Tarsan and the Professor threw caution to the wind and shot the Monstadt, Horseshoe and Kincaid's piers in one fell swoop and managed to escape without raising much attention.  W hy all this hoomalimali?  Because even though the day was sunny and bright, winds were offshore and conditions were glassy, it was flat as a flannel cake.  The air was 58.8º as the crew pushed off, but rapidly warmed as they headed into the sunlight.  The water is 64.6º and only Tarsan braved the chill.  It's a SW swell out of 225º at 2.3' and it was less than half tha...

S o our fave photog Kevin Gilligan was on the scene on Sunday for this year's "Spooky Surf."  With years of chasing down action sports he was right on the scene to chronicle Doc Scale auguring into this unsuspecting citizen (#1) south of the pier.  Of course south of the pier is a "no fault" surfing zone.  Now, to the unpracticed eye it appears that Doc took off right into this guy, but what you can't see is that NO ONE SHOULD TAKE OFF WHEN DOC IS PADDLING!  His intense concentration, Olympic paddling style and lack of peripheral vision should deter even the most enthusiastic surfer from taking off within 50'.  This guy felt Doc's wrath!  For more action go to "Photos KAG"! Lost Boys & Co... A fter a long drought of Hermosa breaking on the sand and doing nothing but clobbering the shorebreak, it looks like a couple of the sandbars have retreated to the outside and are ready to provide some waves that aren't catastrophes waiting to happen.  The RUHS team had a great session (#1) in preparation for tomorrow's "Kickoff Classic".  It's one of the biggest contests on the coast with a couple of hundred participants.  Thursday's heats will feature the women, so if you want to catch some excellent girl's surfing, come down to Hermosa.  The contest starts at 6:30 and goes until about 8:30am. C loudy this morning with 5 miles visibility.  Winds were 3 to 5kts offshore and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 64.1º and the water is 65.7º.  High tide was at 7:40am +5.4' and low tide was at 1:34pm +1.2'.  We have a SSW swell out of 195º at 3.0' and it was 2' to 3' with some well shaped zippers reeli...

Lost Boys & Co... 1.)  H ere we have Suzanne on the violin with the group "Sin Palabras."  Cat Lincoln, from West Africa, is the lead vocalist and they're going to be preforming in various venues throughout the Southland this winter.  They also rehearse every Friday at the Topaz House from 6pm to 8pm.  Last week Boomfwappa sat in on one of the sessions.  If you want to hear some great contemporary music drop by and listen up! 10+ V isibility under partly cloudy skies.  Winds were steady offshore at 3kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 60.5º and the water was a wind dipped 64.4º.  High tide was at 7:13am +4.9' and low tide drains at 12:46pm +2.0'.  It's a west swell out of 267º at 4.3' and it was 4' to 5' and great if you were as fast as Christiano, but not if you were as fast as Burnsy and the Professor.  More tomorrow... ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it" The Professor!!
