Urchint Care Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Back in the late 90's or whenever the Lost Boys headed down to Saladitas early on, we surfed Santa Margarita Bay outside of the Eden Resort.  Actually a few years ago Christian, Max and the Professor surfed it.  It's a left that breaks right on the jagged outcropping on the way to Majahua.  The rocks there are loaded with urchins.  Even if you brushed against them you got stuck.  So Rip was surfing close to the rocks and lost it on a bottom turn.  He hit the rocks with his ass and got pin-cushioned with some of those sharp brittle purple spikes and by the evening he was writhing in pain.  He had his medical kit and with a pair of cotton pliers the Professor, nee doctor Paine, began removing the spines.  SeaWolf held the torch and GoGo helped keep up everyone's spirits with a play by play accounting.  Here (#1) we have Rip's very white ass under the knife...

Cool this morning at 49.3º and the water is holding at 60.3º.  A few high clouds, but mostly clear skies.  Winds were light offshore increasing throughout the day.  High tide at 7:12am +6.8' and low tide follows at 2:07pm -0.9'.  It's a west swell out of 260º at 3' and it was 3' to 4' and wally and textured.
