Wiggle Room Wednesday Surf & Culture Report
Lost Boys & Co...
Here we have Ginny, the "Queen of All that's Chocolate"(#1), blasting her way to the pier at a great rate of speed. She even got a bit of a cover-up at the end there and managed to miss the swimmer by a fin. She also missed the pier, but it wasn't for lack of trying...
Meanwhile, despite what the buoy was telling us the surf was rather wild this morning. Skies were clear and the sea surface was lightly buffeted by a 1 to 3kt offshore breeze. The air was chilly at 45.0º and the water didn't feel that much warmer at 59.7º. Winter's coming early. Low tide was early at 5:16am +3.2' and high tide is at 11:30am +5.4'. It's a 2.0' swell out of the west at 270º and it blew up to a solid 4' with some edgy walls that weren't exactly friendly.
The finals of the South Bay Scholastic Surf League's "Kickoff Classic" will be tomorrow starting at 6:30 at 26th St. in Manhattan. Always a great contest to watch and the conditions should be solid!
