Adventurous Trial Tuesday Surf & Culture Report
Lost Boys & Co...
Read in "The Surfer's Journal", "...which retells the Homeric tale in a series of collages where it's heroes are constructed of black paper cutouts, irrevocably reimagining the aesthetic of the narrative, while asserting the universality of the human quest for self-realization through adventurous trial."
...And we merely thought we were going to go surfing (#1 The Professor, Jah, Jetski and Rasta Pete in the background.)
Overcast today (why should it be any different than yesterday?) 7 miles visibility. Winds were light onshore, 1 to 3kts and the sea was more textured that it should have been. The air temperature was 64.3º and the water is 67.6º. High tide was at 9:27am +3.8' and low tide will be at 1:40pm +2.9'. There's a south swell (which should tell you something right there) out of 199º at 2.3' and it was 1' to 2' and poor.
With an abundance of caution the lifeguards closed the beach from the Redondo Pier to Ave. C because of a shark exhibiting "aggressive behavior." Apparently it was munching on a seal and that was aggressive enough to close the beach. You would hope if he was eating a seal, he wouldn't be chewing on a bather or worse a surfer. No word if the shark exhibited any indigestion. That would be a reason to close the beach.
Off to the wilds of Idaho for introspection, so the report may be sporadic, erratic or unpredictable. Back on 8/5 to challenge your sensibilities. Meanwhile, assert your quest for self-realization...
