A Wetsuit Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

We learned today that surf champ, film maker, coach and local legend Greg Browning (#1) passed away last Friday.  He had been battling ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease for 18 months.  He was born in Newport Beach, but he lived and caught his first waves in Hermosa.  He had just wrapped his latest film "A Marble in the Jar" and it will be premiered on June 5th at the Hermosa Community Center.  He was one of the nicest people we had ever met and he continued to be positive and happy until the end.  There will be a paddle out soon and we'll let you know when that will be.

Cloudy this morning with the sun trying to peek through.  12 miles visibility if you were looking.  Winds were light out of the SW and actually calmed a bit until about 11o'clock.  The air was 55.2 at checkout and the water is 59.2.  Low tide was at 6:07am +-0.0' and high tide was at 12:33pm +3.0'.  It's a SSW swell out of 201 degrees at 2.3' and it was 2' and some cute little grinders after the class left for the morning.
