Lost Boys & Co... BOO!   Hahaha!  Spooky Sruf this morning and the surf cooperated with Mr. Banana getting a long looping left in the general direction of the pier.  The line-up was impressive with (#1. L to R) the Dude, Mr. Banana, Mrs. Banana, their dog Plantain, the missing kid on the milk carton, My Little Pony Unicorn, the American Eagle and the Wicked Warlock of 11th St.   A few spooky good ones came through the overcast.  Offshore winds 1 to 5kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air was chilklier than we thought with a 55.9 º  low and a 64.8 º  in the water.  High tide was at 6:50am +4.6' and low tide follows at 12:22pm +2.4'.  It's a teasing west swell out of 259 º  at 3.9' and there were some chunks coming through separating the Dudes from the Bananas... A t Bruce's Beach the South Bay Scholastic Surfing Assn. surfed through another round with some great Redondo finishes.  In TWO heats the RUHS Women...

W ell, it's that time of year again when they move the lifeguard towers halfway up the beach to keep them from getting washed away in the winter storms.  Since pink is not part of the pride flag the Department of Beaches sent out the tractor with pink rims (#1) to haul the Pride Tower up the beach.  We have no idea if this was intentional or not, but all of the pink people liked it. A nother day with clear skies and 20+ miles visibility.  Winds were light offshore and the sea surface was smooth.  The air was 56.3 º  and the water was 64.2 º, but the swimmers said that there were some cold spots outside the surf line.  High tide was at 6:38am +4.1' and low tide follows quickly at 11:30am +3.1'.  It's a 2.3' SSW swell out of 195 º  and it was 1' to 2'.  Water clarity was amazing.  Probably 20' to 30'. W e caught this great artists talk at the VEFA gallery last Sunday (#1).  It featured David Krovblit and Michael Torquato.  If you imagine that being an artist is merely slapping paint on a canvas then you should have been there to hear these two artists discuss their process and intention behind the product.  But you're in luck!  Saturday Nov. 1st the gallery is celebrating their 1st anniversary and all of the artists who have taken part in this last show will be on hand to answer questions and discuss their work. T here you are 6500 miles from home and around the corner comes Jetski (#1) and you feel like it's just about time to grab a coffee at Brothers, but you can't because you're in Kobe, Japan and 7-11 is the next best choice.  Our trips overlapped and a we managed to collide in Kobe for lunch.  After his return yesterday, we spoke with him and he's ready to go back as soon as possible. S o here in the South Bay we had clear skies and 15 miles visibility which then became a bit cloudy.  Winds were offshore by 1 to 5kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 58.1 º  and the water has dropped another degree to 63.5 º .  One tide today it's high at 12:05pm +4.9'.  The buoy is telling us it's a west swell out of 266 º  at 3.6' and it was 3' to 5' and left us wondering if it was worth a go out... Lost Boys & Co... T wo words:  GO DODGERS!   We're not big sports fans, but Shohei's performance in the last game really makes you want to watch! S ome of the best places we ate in were these little Okonomiyaki diners (#1) on some of the side streets that initially didn't look promising.  This one was on the waterfront in Onomichi.  The grill is in front of you or they serve the dish in a frying pan.  Okonomiyaki means "whatever is on hand" and our dinner here included noodles, cabbage, eggs, bonito flakes, dashi and flour.  They mix up the entire thing and fry it up like a demented omelette.  It was delicious!  We now crave bonito flakes... A great day for Dodger baseball, even though they're in Toronto.  15 miles visibility under a hazy sun.
