World Serious Friday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Two words:  GO DODGERS!  We're not big sports fans, but Shohei's performance in the last game really makes you want to watch!

Some of the best places we ate in were these little Okonomiyaki diners (#1) on some of the side streets that initially didn't look promising.  This one was on the waterfront in Onomichi.  The grill is in front of you or they serve the dish in a frying pan.  Okonomiyaki means "whatever is on hand" and our dinner here included noodles, cabbage, eggs, bonito flakes, dashi and flour.  They mix up the entire thing and fry it up like a demented omelette.  It was delicious!  We now crave bonito flakes...

A great day for Dodger baseball, even though they're in Toronto.  15 miles visibility under a hazy sun. Winds were offshore at 1 to 3kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temp was 55.9º and the water is 65.3º.  High tide was at 10:25am +5.7' and low tide follows at 5:53pm +0.3'.  It's a west swell out of 265º at 3.0' and it was a going-high-tide session at the advertised height.

On our last day in Onomichi we took this bike ride (#2) that was advertised as a 4 hour tour.  It wasn't a Gilligan's Island trek but it turned into a 6 hour adventure that included circumnavigating the island of Innoshima.  Yes they were e-bikes, but you still had to have your butt on that seat!
