Freaking Friday Surf & Culture Report
Lost Boys & Co...
BOO! Hahaha! Spooky Sruf this morning and the surf cooperated with Mr. Banana getting a long looping left in the general direction of the pier. The line-up was impressive with (#1. L to R) the Dude, Mr. Banana, Mrs. Banana, their dog Plantain, the missing kid on the milk carton, My Little Pony Unicorn, the American Eagle and the Wicked Warlock of 11th St.
A few spooky good ones came through the overcast. Offshore winds 1 to 5kts and the sea surface was smooth. The air was chilklier than we thought with a 55.9º low and a 64.8º in the water. High tide was at 6:50am +4.6' and low tide follows at 12:22pm +2.4'. It's a teasing west swell out of 259º at 3.9' and there were some chunks coming through separating the Dudes from the Bananas...
At Bruce's Beach the South Bay Scholastic Surfing Assn. surfed through another round with some great Redondo finishes. In TWO heats the RUHS Women's Shortboarders went 1-2-3. 1st's were London Meza and Keani Honda Snow, 2nd's were Umi Morimoto and Abby Bosse and third's were Remi Kingsbury and Edith Perez. Clementine Parker also snagged a third after leading for a good bit. 5 Men advanced with Dylan Morrisroe 1st, Jackson Owens 2nd and 3rd's for Stone Erikson, Charlie Lentz and Parker Murphy. Contest resumes next Thursday with the finals scheduled for Friday at Hermosa!
The real American Eagle was A-aron (#2) and we gave him a nod for best feathers. The best ensemble was the Banana Family and the Dude is always a personal fave... You have a year to get ready!
