Firedog Friday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

So here we have a shot of the surf lesson break just outside of the Kiahuna Plantation on Kaua'i.  This is the inside smaller section, but about fifty yards outside is a nice peak that the Professor kept trying to catch.  The only problem was that if you caught it, you had to negotiate the surf school once you got up and were steaming along.  Since most of the participants were youngsters, they were amazed that someone so wizened could still be out there.  So they cheered and he cheered and after all that's what it's all about...

Cloudy this morning with less than 10 miles visibility.  Winds were onshore early 3 to 5kts and the sea surface was a bit tacky.  The air temp was 61.5º and the water has dropped to 62.8º at the buoy.  (In Kaua'i the locals thought things were chilly and the water was 78!)  High tide was at 7:37am +3.1' and low tide follows at 12:35pmn +1.7'.  It's a SSW swell out of 194º at 2.3' and that's the problem.  It was 1' to 2' and not quite adorable...
