Tlyuda Tuesday Surf & Culture Report



Lost Boys & Co...

Well another Tlyuda Tuesday in the Mexico City Airport.  The good news is is we got a dip at Punta Zicatela this morning, the bad news is that our layover in Mexico City D.F. Is 3 1/2 hours, but the other good news is we got into the lounge and managed to get some nap time on the plush seats. 

Meanwhile at home the low this morning was 61 and the high is 70.2.  High tide was at 10:46am 3.8' and low tide will be at 2:32pm +2.4'.  We're back tomorrow and it looks like we have SSW swell out of 205 at 3.3' and it's 2' to 3' with some little grinders.  The water temp is 63.9 in Hermosa and in Puerto Escondido it's 88.3.  Not looking warm and fuzzy.  Well, maybe fuzzy…

Okay, the water was 88, but the waves on the outside of the point were 12 to 15'.  Alejandro was the only on of the five of us that got out.  He got a grinder from the second point all the way to the beach.  Meanwhile the Professor displayed remarkable white water riding ability to the youngsters on what just happened to be the only long board on the beach or in the water….  CUT!

Lost Boys & Co... W e talked about how much building is going on in China.  There are so many new bridges across the Yangtze that they haven't named them all yet!  There are between 50 and a hundred going up between Yichang and Chongqing alone.  In our first photo, the bridge and road are so new that the road crosses the bridge and then doesn't go anywhere!  We watched them welding the superstructure in #2 and to our amazement we watched a guy put on a belt with eyes on the hips and get hoisted up a couple of hundred feet to near the top of this tower.  No nets, no additional straps, no hat - just flying there with a portable welding rig, sparks flying.  We actually saw guys spot welding stuff without dark glasses!  There are some tough guys up there!  Dude, you like gotta have a hat... A beautiful morning, with a few big clouds bumping along and 20 miles visibility.  Winds started onshore from the crack and they were light at checkout...

Another Foggy Friday Surf & Culture Report

Sometimes On Friday/Saturday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co... G reat group at Siblings Burrito Palace this morning! (#1)  Caroline joined us all the way from Atwater to catch a few gray ones. C loudy and 12 miles visibility.  Winds were light out of the south by 2 to 3kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temp was 58.0 º and the water was 61.5 º .  Low tide was at 8:26am -0.6' and high tide follows at 4:00pm +3.4'.  SSW swell out of 202 º at 2.6' and it was 3' and some sharp little gray grinders... S mall surf doesn't have to mean lousy surf.  Here (#2) we have Sheamus Swift showing what you can do when you put your mind to it.  Sheamus got first place in the longboard division against Mira Costa on Thursday! ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it" The Professor!!
