Lost Boys & Co... W ell, Marco and Paulo are back on the road to Portugal, their visit seeming way too short.  They actually got in the water 5 out of the 7 days and Marco was looking good!  This was Paulo's first surf trip and he's ready to acquire some equipment in Portugal!  If you should find yourself in that part of the world make sure you look them up.  Marco is in Porto where the waves are big and cold and there's plenty of surf.  Paulo lives in the Algarve which is a lot like San Diego.  Warmer water, but a bit more fickle conditions.  ZoĂ« snapped this shot of the Lost Boys Portugal Chapter with a couple of local chaps... S tormy Monday on tap today!  10 miles visibility under cloudy skies as the weather closed in.  Winds began calm and quickly kicked up to 10kts on and then 14 to 15kts with white caps.  The air temperature was 50.6° and the water feels cooler than the posted 57.4°.  Low tide at 6:39am +1.2' and high ti...

Lost Boys & Co... I t takes two to tango and the renowned dance couple of S. Burdett and O. Barahona, appear to be tripping the light fantastic around this blue offering.  Actually, the racks were too long for this rocket and Birdie needed Oscar to hold it while he did some touching up on some stray fiberglass strings.  This is Sandy's new ride and it's been dubbed "Blue Topaz."  Should be in the water next week! A little hazy this morning with some foggy remnants in the low regions and 2 miles visibility.  Winds were offshore by 4.2kts and the sea surface was smooth to glassed.  The air temp was 51.4° and the water was 56.7°, just like winter.  High tide was at 10:17am +4.5' and low tide will follow late at 4:25pm +0.5'.  We have a west swell out of 265° at 3.6' and we'll call it 3' to 4'.  Some nice ones at the Hermosa Pier as the tide came up... Lost Boys & Co... S howing the crew how to drop in steep and late, Marco works out the kinks on his new Becker.  Jimmy Barahona decided that the Shark needed a stick worthy of his name.  It was shaped by Phil Becker and the drawing on the bottom was done by Brian Bent in his signature style! A n absolutely beautiful morning here in So. Cal.  Cloudless azure skies and 22 miles visibility.  Winds were offshore by 5.5kts and the sea surface was smooth to near glassy.  The air temp was 50.6° and the water seemed warmer than the advertised 57.0°.  High tide at 9:43am +5.0' and low tide will follow at 4:01pm +0.1'.  The buoy is reading a strong west swell out of 268° at 3.6' and we'll call it 3' to 4', with some fat outsides. E very once-in-a-while Sapphire will break through the high tide, like this morning.  If you're on it, it can be kinda special.  ChĂ© made it look as good as you can imagine.  He got at least 3 615's and on one of the...

Two Portagees Tuesday On A Washington B-Day Wewdnesday Surf & Culture Report

Image
Lost Boys & Co... G eorge Washington's grandmother was Maria Fagundes Silveira, so George Washington was a quarter Portuguese.  He never made a big deal about it. We know because he had two divers at the ready when he threw the silver dollar across the Potomac in case he was short.  It wasn't actually a cherry tree, it was a stand of kale and he made soup out of it.  He was standing up in the friggin' boat Portagee style crossing the Delaware! T he Portagee boys are in town to celebrate George's b-day.  #1 has Paulo taking a celebratory spin...  We've been surfing and he and Marco are having a great time at the beach.  Oh yeah, Marco sends a shout out to all his buds out there who he hasn't had a chance to see yet! A beautiful morning with 17 miles visibility under mostly clear skies.  Winds were offshore by 3.7kts and the sea surface was smooth to glassy in the corners.  The air temperature was 51.4° and the water was chillin' at 55.9° and ...
