Lost Boys & Co... J ust about as clear as it gets here in the So. Bay.  But pay attention, the photo #2 location could be seen from photo #1 spot! U nlimited visibility after a real gully washer last night about 1:30am.  Cloudy, but not looking like it's gonna rain again, soon...  Winds were variable onshore this morning, switching around to most of the compass points, but finally honestly blowing things out around 9.  Sea surface was a bit morning sick and then just plain choppy.  Air temp was 48.9˚ and the water actually maintained at 57.0˚ and didn't dip in the wind.  High tide was at 6:24am +5.7' and low tide will follow at 1:14pm -0.8'.  Buoy is showing a WSW swell out of 236˚ at 4.6' and it's rolling along at 3' to 4' at most spots...  Should mellow out a bit for the weekend, even if it's a bit smaller... Lost Boys & Co... L uke Meyer snapping a quick little left at HB... C loudy this morning with 20 miles visibility.  Forecast is for rain (70%) most of the day, but we're not buying it.  Winds out of the SW by 2.9kts and the sea surface has a bit of tack to it.  Not quite light chop.  The air temp is 53.4˚ and the water is 56.8˚ and 58˚ at the HB pier.  High tide is at 5:27am +5.4' and low tide follows at 12:33pm -0.7'.  We have a WSW swell out of 237˚ true at 4.6' and increasing in size.  It's 3' to 4' in Hermosa and waiting for the tide to help the shape... I n ballet, they put a lot of stock in hang time.  Here we have Miss Lilly, virtually floating, before coming down in perfect form.  (Check the mirror and those pointed toes!)  We're thinking this might be the summer for some surfing lessons!  ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."  The Professor!!

Y ou unroll these mozzarella "string" cheeses and you end up with a strand that's about 9' long.  Tasty, fresh and fun they're great for an afternoon snack or to wind up your tlayuda... W e had 15 miles visibility at checkout this morning under partly cloudy skies.  Rain is predicted for this evening, tomorrow and possibly Friday.  Winds were calm and so were you.  The sea surface was smooth with a slight roll.  The air temperature was 52.5˚ and the water was 56.3˚.  Low tide is at 11:44am -0.3' and high tide will be at 6:23pm +3.7'.  We have a WSW swell out of 243˚ at 3.3' on the buoy.  It's about 3+ feet at Hermosa and varies from there...  The tide will have it's way and the winds are almost a lock on the afternoon...  Let's see what the weather brings! O ur photo this morning features Oscar, Tio Ted and Juan.  Tio Ted was trying to tlak his way out of a tlayuda.  We all ended up with more tlayuda than we knew what to do with... O vercast this morning as we await the scheduled rains.  Can you imagine that someday we might schedule rainy days?  We just had that thought and naturally had to share it.  7 miles visibility, with winds out of the ENE at 4.1kts.  The sea surface once again had a slight bump but was generally smooth.  The air temperature was 55.6˚ and the water is right around 56.8˚, although Roddy Williams continue to insist that it's 2˚ warmer.  Low tide is late at 10:41am +0.1' and high tide is at 5:32pm +3.2'.  We have a WSW swell out of 257˚ at 3.3' and it's not translating well at most of our favorite spots.  Check the tides and look again...   I n an effort...

F ast chicks, running in the St. Patrick's Day Village Runner 5K.  Looks like Suzi, LoLa and Vicki GoGo.  We don't know how we managed to catch them without the typical speed-blur.  Just lucky we're guessing... ˚ C lear this morning with 20+ miles visibility and a bit of haze over the water.  Winds were lightly offshore by 1.9kts and the sea surface was just a tad bumpy.  The air temperature was 55.0˚ and the water was 56.7˚, but warmed up to 59 during mid-day.  A good sign, although we've got some weather coming in later in the week.  Low tide at 9:17am +0.4' and high tide will be at 4:00pm +2.9', with low tides going minus at the end of the week.  The buoy shows a west swell out of 260˚ at 4.3' and we've got 3' to 4' waves at most spots...  T he most interesting man in the South Bay, branches out to LA and demonstrates how to put a reluctant tot to sleep.  Tio Ted is shown here whispering a few soothing words to t...

Lost Boys & Co... L ast night, in an ongoing effort to prove that Thursday is the new Friday, a group of Lost Boys had dinner at "Guelaguetza," the renowned Oaxacan restaurant on Normandie and Olympic.  Hosted by Juan Castillo, we were treated to mounds of Oaxacan delicacies.  Pictured is the appetizer!  It included chorizo, pork ribs, nopales (cactus pads,) chicken, cecina, piles of Oaxacan mozzarella cheese and several things we're forgetting because we were also plied with strong drink in the form of Oaxacan margaritas.  For the uninitiated, Oaxacan margaritas are much like regular margaritas, except they have as much alcohol as your maiden aunt's cough syrup (50 - 60%?)  After this extravaganza d'carne, we ordered our entrées.  Not that we needed entrées, but we were told that the tlayudas were not to be missed.  Tlayudas are what one might call a Mexican pizza.  A large hand made tortilla, brushed with bacon grease, then covered with y...

Lost Boys & Co... W e get letters... M ein Herr Professor, It is with guarded enthusiasm that I send a request for an application to be a member of the "Lost Boys Surf & Culture Club."  As of late, I have retired and after many years of service now find myself with some spare time.  Recently, a group of religious gave me this surfboard (pictured) and I have some interest in learning how to surf and cultivate the beach lifestyle.  In my youth, contrary to some accounts, I wasn't a joiner and adopted the surfer look (sandals, long blond hair, VW bus etc.)  For a short time I even owned a Morey-Pope surfboard, rather portentous, considering...   Although, I currently reside in Italy, I am looking for a small place in Hermosa Beach (have you heard of the St. Francis Hotel?) and hope to move there before summer.  I am diligently working on my English and in future correspondence may I address you as "Dude?"
