Between The Pilings Tuesday Surf & Culture Report
Lost Boys & Co...
No doubt you've got a story about surfing inside the Horseshoe Pier. For awhile it was against the law, but we didn't see any signs and there were a couple of shortboarders having a glorious time (#2). The pier really knocked down the wind that was plaguing the rest of the beach breaks and let some good ones through.
It was brilliant blue skies with a few clouds and 15 miles visibility. Those winds were 3 to 7kts at checkout and they've been ramping up all day. The air temperature was 54.5º and the water has dipped a bit with the wind to 60.3º. High tide was late at 11:10am +3.4' and low tide was at 3:27pm +2.2'. It's a west swell out of 263º at 5.2' and it was 4' to 6'. If you were persistent like A-Aron, you might have scored a couple of peaks and if you knew where to sit! He has claimed some level of enlightenment! We bask in his reflected light...
Anyone who's spent much time on the Strand/Esplanade has seen Dan Martinez (#2) riding his bike in the morning. About a year ago Dan disappeared for a couple of months and our bicycle crew feared something had happened to him. Turns out he had fallen while visiting his son in Colorado and couldn't ride his bike. He's back and give him a wave when you see him!
