Way Down Wednesday Surf & Culture Report (Knob Hill Edition)

Lost Boys & Co...

Yes, here we are at the top of the stairs at Knob Hill where you can see this BMW that didn't quite make it to the checkout spot at the bottom of the first set of stairs.  We included the report at the top of the photo (#1) so you can get a more official view of the incident.  The passenger was transported via ambulance and the driver needed to go via the Redondo Police Dept.  We can only assume she had some substance issues that impelled her to go straight across the Esplanade and down the stairs.  But, if you need to get a closer look at the surf or you're late for your volleyball game, there might be no stopping you!

Overcast this morning with 5 miles visibility.  Winds were calm and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 54.1 and the water is a cool 58.1.  High tide at 7:36am +5.5' and low tide will be at 2:24pm -0.7'.  It's a West swell out of 266 at 2.6' and it was 3' to almost 4' in the surfline.

The roads in San Miguel are cobblestone and pretty rough (#2).  Probably not as rough as the stairs at Knob, but they throw in a "tope'" (speed bump) every so often to keep you honest.  We asked the driver how many tope's there were between San Miguel and Guanajuato and he said, "So many that they call that road "Tope'landia".

Competition this morning between Redondo and El Segundo.  It was Redondo 95 and El Segundo 46.  El Segundo has several outstanding surfers, but not much depth to bolster their scores.  Always a good match-up!  Contest on Friday with RUHS going against a combined West/South team.  Comp starts at 6:30 at Torrance Beach.
