Another Good Friday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

So why are these women (#1) smiling?  Well, maybe it's because they just won the Women's Division of the South Bay Scholastic Surfing Association!  They beat perennial champs Mira Costa 25 to 17, finishing 1-2-3 in the shortboard heat.  In the longboards, Milly Horstman continued her run of wins, but Redondo was deep enough to get the trophy.  From L to R:  Malea, Soryn, London, Abby, JuJu, Giselle, Remy, Edith, Clementine, Umi and Keani.

The morning started out hazy breaking into a sunny morning.  Winds were light offshore 1 to 3kts and the sea surface was smooth. The air temp was 55.6º and the water felt warmer than the posted 62.4º.  High tide was at 10:55am +4.0' and low tide follows at 4:18pm +1.2'.  It's a west swell out of 278º at 2.6', but it was hitting the beach at a consistent 3' to 4' with good shape.  Good enough so that the crew hit it before the tide swamped the playing field...

It's Spring break for Redondo, so get some free mornings before the kids return...

Someone who doesn't get the credit he deserves is Dickie O'Reilly (#2 shown carrying a boundary flag.)  He runs the SBSSA and is one of the fairest most capable Leaders this group has ever had.  It's a pleasure to work with him!
