Safety 3rd Monday Surf & Culture Report
Lost Boys & Co...
We were going to run a fabulous surf photo today or at least a great sunset, but you know how these things go... What we have here is a clear case of sending a plumber to do a roofers job (#1). Or a sign painters job or any job that requires scaling a slippery slop to do your assigned task. To his credit, after he slipped and almost made it to the edge, he enlisted the aide of the fry cook to help stabilize himself with what we thought was a length of dental floss. Turns out it was a discarded surf leash. Why do you discard a surf leash? Because it was broken to begin with! So naturally it would make for a great tether. After some tense moments he didn't stop, but WE turned away out of being unwilling to be a witness to a fall or a hanging...
Cloudy this morning with 5 miles visibility. Winds were onshore early 3 to 5kts and pretty fluky. The sea surface was heavily textured. The air temperature was 62.2º and the water is a fallish 63.5º. High tide was at 7:58am +5.2' and low tide will be at 2:05pm +1.3'. It's a SW swell out of 220º at 4.6' hitting the beach at 3' to 4' and maybe a 5' out back. If the wind lays off it could be better tomorrow!
