Wet, Wild & Weird Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Well, it's the end of another year and it's been a predictably crazy one.  We started the year with a Familia trip to Mexico and we scored good waves and some great food at places that were new to the area.  As per typical Capt. Donaldo lead the charge and we followed.  In February we made a trip to Thailand, Cambodia and Viet Nam with Sancho and found not much surf, but some great cultural immersion and a phenomenally bad haircut.  March took us to one of the few visits to Mexico that didn't include surfboards.  It's amazing how easy it is to negotiate airports without sticks.  It took all of April to get Doc out of his wetsuit and into May...  Where we headed out to Palm Springs with the RUHS Team to surf the Wave Pool and then to the West Side of Oahu to keep Miloe on his toes.  June Gloom on schedule...

Raining today, light in the morning and getting heavier as the morning progressed.  Winds were out of the east by 2 to 7kts. and the sea surface is smooth.  The air was warm at 63.5º and the water cooled off in time for the rain at 62.4º.  High tide was at 5:59am (but not 6) +6.4' and low tide will be at 1:30pm -1.0'.  Some great pm low tides this week!  It's a West swell out of 266º at 1.3' and we wish it were that big.  Supposed to start cooperating later today, but it's going to be wet.

July brought lot's of surfable days, but still annoyingly cool water.  It was capped by Morgan's completion of ten years in a row of surfing every day (#1).  Truly a remarkable achievement, not something we'll see for a long time.  August might have been the best month for surf that had 25 days of rideable waves.  September/October took us to Japan and small to tiny waves on the south east side of the archipelago, then on to Germany to complete our Axis tour.  The river wave in Munich is currently being restructured and the locals are trying to make it a more sustainable spot.  There's also a wave pool, but the 25º temps didn't make it sound inviting!

Here's hoping you have a great 2026 and we'll do our best to bring you some interesting surf & culture from wherever we venture in the new year!  Cheers!
