Little Man Who Wasn't There Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

"Last night I saw upon the stair,
a little man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today,
my God I wish he'd go away!

If you look closely at photo #1, you'll see the buoy in the left upper third.  We had watched a catchable wave break within a few feet of the buoy, took out our camera-phone and as long as we had our phone out it didn't break that far out - until we put our phone away...

Cloudy with 7 miles visibility, but no rain after last nights showers.  Winds out of the WSW at 2 to 5kts and the sea surface was churning.  The air was 55,0º and the water is still, a remarkable 62.1º.  One low tide at 12:41pm +0.2'.  The buoy is reading a 8.2' WSW swell out of 253º.  It's breaking 8' to 10' with some waves sucking out below sand bar level and the odd spitter reeling down the beach.

Down the street you could see Topaz and Sapphire (#2) a bit better organized than Hermosa.  Interesting to note how far the farthest folks were out on the Sapphire side!  Almost to the end of the jetty.  There have been some days when outside Topaz broke farther out than the end of the jetty, but that far out at Sapphire is pretty great...

Capitan Donaldo's Polio Pond (#3) was in fine form as the Beaches & Harbors folks built up a berm around the pool.  Maybe they'll put in a diving board?  We were at a loss to figure out how that helped anything.  Of course from a surf perspective we were hoping that we'd get a little more sand draining into the surfline.  So it goes...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it"
