Is This A Trustworthy Tuesday Surf & Culture Report?

Lost Boys & Co... Y es it is... W elcome to Lake Hermosa (#1) where the visibility is 5 miles and the clouds are hanging low and gray.  Winds are variable and we're not sure it would be good for sailing, but there is a bit of surface texture enabling you to discern the sea from the sky.  There is often much utility in this observation.  The air temperature was 61.0 º  and the water is 63.3 º  at the buoy.  High tide was at 9am +5.1' and low tide will be at 3:11pm -0.1'.  It's a 1.6' SSW swell out of 197 º and it's 0 to 1' at most spots... T his fellow (#2) regularly comes down to the berm and sculpts various sea creatures in the sand.  He typically comes early enough that we don't get a chance to see him in action, but yesterday was a welcome exception.  At one point the water came up and touched the edge of his creation and he bowed to the sea with his hands pressed prayerfully together in front of him.  A very interesting gesture o...

Pork Shank Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co... O ne year ago today the water was 57.7 º and it was raining, you all remember rain.  Today the posted water temperature was 67 º  (#1) and when the fog burned off it was in the low 70's!  We're willing to go out on a limb and say that's the warmest water we've had in our limited, but not insignificant experience. W inds were light from the south and the ocean had a bit of texture.  The air was 58.2 º .  High tide was at 8:17am +5.3' and low tide will be at 2:43pm -0.4'.  It's a weak SSW swell out of 209 º  at 1.6' and it was half that on the sand. H ere we have Doña Donna Miller (Toph's Mum) at the wheel of the bus quite ready to drive it back to Boston and get some REAL seafood...  We'll be at Capt. Kidd's tonight for some okay grinds... ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it" The Professor!!

T he #1's:  Heat #1 SB:  Kai Milan-Thomas,  Heat #2 SB:  Dylan Morrisroe (with a 12.03 for the highest heat total of the day!), Heat #3 SB:  London Meza, Heat #4 LB: Sheamus Swift (who by the way was just accepted to UCLA!)  Heat #5 LB:  JuJu Sleeis, Heat #6 SB:  Parker Murphy, Heat #7 SB:  Charlie Lentz. C loudy this morning with low overcast.  Winds were offshore 2 to 5kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air was a damp 57.9 º and the water was even damper at 63.3 º .  High tide was at 5:26am +5.0' and low tide follows at 12:55pm -0.6'.  It's a 2.3'SSW swell out of 194 º ...

Spring Has Sprung Wednesday/Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co... Y es good citizens, Spring has sprung and our Red Leaf Maple (#1) on the Mar y Fuego grounds has agreed to be the first to announce its arrival.  Spring on... G ray this morning breaking into warmish sunshine (#2).  Winds were offshore 2 to 4kts and the sea surface had a light tack.  The air was 61.5 º  and the water is 63.7 º  at the buoy, but slated at 65 º  on the tower.  Low tide was at 11:58am -0.4' and high tide follows late at 7:16pm +3.6'.  It's a 2.3' SSW out of 198 º  and it was jumping to 3'+ and rolling along that middle sandbar.  Pretty fun spring surf... T hen there's this rather loud and confusing signage on the Strand in front of Scottie's (#3).  Why is the text facing toward the building rather than away?  Do they want you to walk against the windows to get a better view of the patrons?  Who signs off on this stuff?  The word is they are going to put tables out front.  Thoug...
