Another St. Patrick's Day Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Maybe the hottest St. Patrick's Day we've ever had in the South Bay.  At the time of this writing we had a scorching 88º after a low of 59.0º at checkout.  This was unlike yesterday when the fog rolled in (#1) and this research vessel got close to running aground. Hazy sun and 10 miles visibility.  Winds were light offshore and the sea surface was calm.  The sea temperature is 62.4º and might warm up a couple of clicks with the hot sun.  High tide was at 8:49am +5.5' and low tide will be at 3:21pm -0.5'.  There's a 2.6' SSW swell out of 201º and it was slapping the sand at 1'.

Capitan Donaldo Update:  A lot better today after getting more electrolytes and boosting his blood volume.  He saw his doctor and got good reviews.  He also saw Doc and resisted taking a nap with him!  Also, a lot of folks were concerned that there still might be some outstanding costs related to his return.  Everyone has been taken care of and his insurance is also aware of some costs.

Another shot at "8 Balls" (#2).  This wave starts out about 3' and ends up jumping to just a tad overhead so you can duck in and cool off.  It also picks up speed so you cover a significant amount of seascape in the process.   #3 has Donnie and the Professor at the "Cascadas" near
Pelenque.  This area is still under the Zapotista influence and their language is a combination of Spanish and native dialects.  They don't get many tourists, so it's a bit of an adventure...
