Is It Really Friday The 13th Surf & Culture Report?
Lost Boys & Co...
Another perfect summer day in the Southland and it's not even Spring yet... officially.
Initially cloudless, visibility was 20 miles and winds were offshore 2 to 3kts. The air temp was 60.0ยบ and the water is 60.4ยบ. High tide was at 6:00am +4.4' and low tide will follow at 1:35pm +0.0'. It's a 3.3' SSW swell out of 195ยบ and got better as the tide got lower.
We've been waiting all week to give a more comprehensive report on Donnie and his travails in Mexico. Turns out he had a severe case of the touristas and this caused him to become dehydrated. In the midst of one of his bathroom breaks, he fainted, fell and hit his head. Out for who knows how long, he finally made it back to bed and the next day the lady who runs the place was concerned he didn't come down. She went up to his room and found him unconscious and unresponsive. They found his passport and called his daughter, but apparently she was unclear about where he was. Through some great phone sleuthing, and Spanish help from Sara from Brother's, we managed to get him transported to the mainland and to the hospital in Puerto Escondido. His daughter made it down to Puerto and they came home last night. Well, we thought that was pretty much it, but today Don's daughter Carrie, took him for further tests and they determined that he had a brain bleed and a skull fracture and needed to be hospitalized. We should find out more tomorrow and we'll let you know how things are progressing. The outlook remains positive and he really needs time to rest and recover. Lots of folks to thank, we'll try to cover that this weekend...
