May The Fourth Be With You Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Many of you knew Keoni Boyd and used his expert ding repair services.  He passed on February 18th and there will be a paddle out on the 23rd of May and a gathering afterwards to bid our farewells.  Check out the flyer (#1) and try to make it to celebrate a true legend in the South Bay...

10 miles visibility this morning under partly cloudy skies (#2).  Winds were consistent on shore 3 to 5kts and the sea surface was a bit chunky.  The air temperature was 56.0º and it felt cooler and the ocean was 60.1º which was absolutely colder than a couple of days ago.  Low tide was at 5:50am -0.3' and high tide was at 12:31pm +3.1'.  Some wonky tides this week switching things up.  It's a SSW swell out of 206º at 3.0' and it was 1' to 2' and pretty sloppy.  Hoping it cleans up as the winds change...

So, if you had asked us what the buzz was this week, we'd have to say it was about 300,000 honey bees swarming for a new hive.  The air was thick with them for about an half an hour and then they landed on our lemon tree in a mass the size of an elongated volleyball (#3).  Waiting on their next move.  If they don't move, it will put a damper on the lemonade season...
