So just north of Portree we went to this waterfall that was falling directly into the sea. We thought about it for a minute and then decided that we had never seen a waterfall, of any height, fall directly into the sea. Then we noticed this ring (#1) around the base of the falls out in the ocean. It was where the fresh water was mixing into the salt! Kinda cool...
A beautiful day in the Southland with 10 miles visibility and partly cloudy skies. Winds were light offshore and the sea surface was smooth. The air temp was 65.0º and the water is 70.0º. High tide is at 7:41am +3.0' and low tide follows at 11:38am +2.2'. It's a SSW swell out of 209º at 3.3' and it was 2' to 3' and the crew was in fine form in the cute little waves...
Brother Miloe and the Professor have an almost clinical aversion to hiking. We include this photo of the beginning of this hike (#2) along "The Fairy Pools" only to show the extent of this walk (out to the cone in the distance, maybe a couple of miles). We saw three pools and bid the fairies good day...
On the first evening in Ireland we went to bed at 11pm and it was still light outside. The next morning we awoke at 6am and the sun was already in the sky. Being the scientific types we set our alarm for 2am to see if it was light. This (#3) is what the sky looked like at 2am! Ireland is about the same latitude as Sweden, Norway and Finland...
