Jose Bacallao spotted a Green Sea Turtle (#1) off the reef at Point Fermin this morning.  This suggests to us that the water is getting warmer!  Honestly, we'd like to see a Green Sea Turtle... 

It seemed pretty warm to us this morning as the buoy registered a 71.6º and the air was a warm 69.0º.  10 miles visibility under a hazy sun and winds were offshore 1 to 3kts.  Low tide was at 8:11am +1.3' and high tide is at 3:08pm +4.9'.  It's a 3.6' SSW swell out of 195º and it was 2' to 3' and actually pretty fun.

This weekend they threw open the gates to the pier and in processed Jah Morgan (#2) and her consort Christiano Von Stutzman, to the cheers of the assembled multitudes.  They will be heading to Hawaii this week where CVS will be competing in the Molokai to Oahu Paddleboard Race.  Then in a few short weeks he will be paddling in the Catalina Classic.  We're hoping that he gets a good paddling... so to speak...

Lost Boys & Co... W hat has this man (#1) been smoking?  Or eating?  Well, that looks like a pozole mustache!  It is pozole season and the mustaches are in... V isibility was a cool 20 miles this morning under clear skies.  Winds were light offshore 1 to 5kts and the sea surface is smooth.  The air was a below-brisk 49.9 º and the water is 62.4 º .  Low tide started off the morning at 5:37am +2.1' and high tide was at 11:25am +5.1'.  It's a west swell out of 264 º at 3.0' and it held all the way to the beach (#3) with some corners for the discrete.  Conditions meshed pretty well for some good sessions. panorama, pre-sunrise, (#2) from the lifeguard headquarters to the end of PV.  Some of these winter morning make for spectacular sunrises...  A  ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it" The Professor!!

Pecking Order Thursday Surf & Culture Report

W hat we have here (above) is Doc drawing our attention to a hapless paddler who, first, jumped in by the tower and is now somewhere near 4th St.  He then proceeded to get caught in a rip, pushed into an outside set that tested his leash and his resolve. He managed to get back in to shore, but needed a few minutes to gather himself... J umbled conditions from the winds last night and they're predicted to blow again today and this evening.  Currently its anywhere from 6 to 20kts and the sea surface is chopped up.  The air was chilly this morning at 47.5 º  and the water is 62.4 º , but that might drop with these winds.  Low tide at 6:46am +2.1' and high tide follows at 112:17pm +4.2'.  It's a blustery west swell out of 268 º  at 6.6' and it looks like about 4' to 7' with the wind knocking down some of the peaks.  Swell looks strong though and if the winds change it could be good... Gays Of Hormuz Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co... T ired of hearing about the Straights of Hormuz... C loudy, gray (#1) and on shore winds 3 to 7kts.  The sea surface is a bit tacked.  The air temperature is 58.0 º  and the water has risen to 60.1 º  in an heroic attempt to lure us back into the sea.  One low tide at 10:31am +1.0'.  It's a 2.3' west swell out of 270 º  and it's an inconsistent 2' to 3' on some of the new sand bars.
