It came to our attention that there was “Monday, Monday” but no “Thursday, Thursday.”  Well, you can’t say that anymore…

Smoke is clearing in the Pacific Northwest and you can almost take a deep breath!  But breathe deeply South Bay.  Sun is coming out and there’s 12 miles visibility.  Winds are variable currently from the SW at 3 to 4kts.  The sea surface is mainly smooth.  At checkout the air was 69.3 and the water is holding at 71.4.  High tide at 111:23am +4.0’ and low tide follows at 4:12pm +2.1’.  There’s a hurricane driven South swell out of 190deg at 3.6’, but it’s still a bit oblique to give us any larger surf.  It’s 2’ to 3’ and keep looking for the magic window. Maybe on the weekend…

One of our students (who shall remain nameless) is ramping up a T-Shirt company.  He sent us this shirt because we showed some interest in a design he was wearing one morning.  Needless to say it wasn’t this image of Eddy being snorted up by some gigantic sea goddess.  Why he thought this might be appropriate for us is confusing.  Did he think we’d wear this to class?  Is he imagining we are coke fiends?  Was she blowing Eddy out of her sinuses?  No, No & NO…

Lost Boys & Co... W hat has this man (#1) been smoking?  Or eating?  Well, that looks like a pozole mustache!  It is pozole season and the mustaches are in... V isibility was a cool 20 miles this morning under clear skies.  Winds were light offshore 1 to 5kts and the sea surface is smooth.  The air was a below-brisk 49.9 º and the water is 62.4 º .  Low tide started off the morning at 5:37am +2.1' and high tide was at 11:25am +5.1'.  It's a west swell out of 264 º at 3.0' and it held all the way to the beach (#3) with some corners for the discrete.  Conditions meshed pretty well for some good sessions. panorama, pre-sunrise, (#2) from the lifeguard headquarters to the end of PV.  Some of these winter morning make for spectacular sunrises...  A  ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it" The Professor!!

A lright good citizens!  So how do they come up with generic names for these wonder drugs?  Like this:   The assignment of a generic name, also known as an International Nonproprietary Name (INN), is a global effort coordinated by the World Health Organization (WHO) through its INN Programme. This program establishes unique and universally accepted names for pharmaceutical substances to avoid confusion and enhance patient safety. Generic names are designed to be distinctive in sound and spelling, avoiding similarity with existing trademarks or other drug names.  A bit onshore from the get-go, with winds in the 2 to 6kts range.  Made for some bump out there under cloudy skies.  It started out at 58.0 º  and honestly kept dropping for the early morning.  The water was marginally warmer at 61.5 º .  High tide was at 8:09am +3.5' and low tide will be at 1:13pm ...

Wide Angle Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co... E arly GoPro™ experimentation (#1).  Primitive but somehow evocative...  Really, almost art...   T he South Bay has 10miles visibility under a hazy fall sun.  Winds were light and the sea surface is smooth.  The air was 64.0° and the water is a fallish 65.3°, which we all know is the precursor to winter...  Low tide is at 6:05am +2.8' and high tide is at 12:46pm +5.3'.  It's a south swell out of 171° and it might be fun if you were in El Salvador... ✠ "When the surf breaks, we'll fix it" The Professor!!
