Bonnie Banks Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Here we have a trio of ducks carving some perfect V’s from the pier at Loch Lomond (#1).  All we knew about Loch Lomond was the “Bonnie Banks” ditty.  Turns out it’s the largest inland stretch of water in Great Britain.  It has 22 islands and the main city of Luss is the jumping off point for the highlands.

Meanwhile in the South Bay we have 12 miles visibility under mostly cloudy skies.  The low today is 61.5 and the high will be 69.5.  It’s a minus tide early at 4:57am -0.6’ and high tide will be at 11:46am 3.4’.  It’s a south swell out of 191 deg at 3.6’ and the surf is 2’ to 3’ and the wind should hold off for most of the morning…

Took a turn through part of the Scottish rainforest (#2).  An amazing diversity of mosses, ferns and lichens fed by high rainfall and relatively mild temperatures year round.  Also known as a Celtic rainforest, it is relatively rare and found along the west highlands and Argyll.  And yes, this is where Argyll socks come from…
