The Court Of King Caractacus Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

We caught Randy (#1) taking a break in front of the factory.  What you have to realize is that the pants he's wearing have about an inch of resin built up in some places.  He has to get new pants periodically because he ends up not being able to bend his legs to get up or sit down!  These are almost ready to be retired...

Visibility was right around 15 miles on this beautiful sunny day.  Winds were calm and picked up through the morning.  By the time we got out it was a tad choppy.  The air temperature at checkout was 63.8º and the water is 66.7º.  High tide was early at 6:08am +3.3' and low tide will be at 11:26am +1.4'.  There's a strong SSW swell out of 199º at 3.9' and it was 3' to 4'.

One of the special things about coaching is that when you get a student who is really interested in shaping and the process of making a surfboard, you can take them down to the professionals and they will give them some helpful pointers.  Always one to share his knowledge Jose Barahona took us into his bay and actually let Wyathe (#2) take some swipes with the planer and the grinder...

We'll be heading out tomorrow for Ireland & Scotland.  We'll try to send a few pics and keep you updated on the local conditions.  We don't plan on surfing, but that won't stop us from checking some of the local spots.  See you in July!
