Mayhem Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

This just came in on the wire:  "In what is being called a freak accident, Brendan Simmons got hit in the head with his rail and required nine stitches.  He gave effusive thanks to the lifeguards who assisted him after being bonked."  Two things:  1. When we first saw this photo (#1) we thought the board was still embedded in his skull.  2. The guards did an excellent job of patching him, but they needed to clean him up a bit.  Of course walking into the ER with that much crimson on your face will get some attention...

Cloudy this morning with 11 miles visibility.  Winds were light offshore at 1 to 3kts and the sea surface had a bit of texture going.  The air temperature was 61.0º and the water at the buoy is 61.7º.  They keep posting 66º on the board on the tower, but we've decided that's a fiction.  Low tide was at 5:04am -0.6' and high tide will be at 11:47am +3.3'.  It's a SSW swell out of 199º at 3.9' and it was 3' to 4' in the surfline...

Joining the big kids this morning was Lina (#2) who was under the excellent tutelage of JuJu Sleeis caught a couple of nice ones.  We're thinking she should skip middle school and head right to Redondo!

You've heard of police dogs.  Well, this is detective Scout (#3) who was staking out shark chummers on the pier.  Snazzy fedora there...
