Lost Boys & Co...
Impressive showing by the Seahawk Surf Team! Let's start by reminding you that the Kickoff Classic is the biggest contest on the west coast, maybe in the galaxy. It starts with over 300 surfers and the finals have six contestants in each division. So you've got to be surfing at a pretty high level to make it to the end. In Women's Longboard Keani Honda-Snow got edged out by Milly Horstman to get 2nd place. In Men's Longboard Seamus Swift took home the gold (#2) and got hoisted by his team mates. In third place was Hermosa regular Evan Jablonski and it looked for a minute like they might have gone one, two. The Redondo Women's Shortboarders put on a real show with Clementine Parker getting 4th, Remi Kingsbury 3rd, Keani Honda-Snow doubling to get 2nd and London Meza (#1) winning the whole thing. We managed to get them together (#3) L to R: Remy, Clementine, Sheamus, Evan, London, Keani. Congrats all around!
So it was cloudy with 10 miles visibility. No sun to warm things up. The air temperature hung around the high 50's and the water was 66.0º. Low tide was at 9:43am +2.9' and high tide is this afternoon at 3:07pm +4.3'. It was a SSW swell out of 201º that kept pushing everyone north at a rapid rate. A 3.3' swell it jumped from 3' to a fat 4', maybe bigger on the outsides.
Rain forecasted for later in the week, so we'll watch and see how the storm drains react. The outfall at the Hermosa Pier is currently covered from the last series of King Tides. It could really pop...
