Malnoia Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

There have been some spectacular low tides this week.  In the company of our in-house marine biologist Nupes Asokan, we made our way to the tide pools at RAT and were treated to investigating some interesting sea creatures.  Among them some of the various types of anemones, sea slugs (which have a bitchen scientific name that we don't remember,) colorful snails and much to our surprise some Pismo clams lurking below the surface.  Minus tides the next couple of days.  Take a walk, but take care your hat doesn't float.  (#1) Some sun drenched rivulets courtesy of Nupes...

10 Miles of visibility with a great cloud bank between the mainland and Catalina.  Winds were offshore 2 to 5kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air was a chilly 51.1º and the water was a welcome 61.5º and warm in comparison.  High tide was at 8:51am +6.1' and low tide will be at 4:05pm -0.9' for one of those minus tides we mentioned.  A west swell out of 260º at 2.0' and it was 2' to 3' and just playful enough to separate riders, paddlers and boards on their way in.

Our intrepid crew on their low tide walk (#2).  We loved the reflection by-the-by...
