Thrasonical Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

We'll try to be minimally thrasonical this morning, unlike our usual rants...

A spectacular sunrise, here (#1) captured by Laurie Armer kicked off the morning in a rather boisterous fashion.  This what happens when you get up at O'Dark Thirty and paddle your outrigger.  And it must have had a wacky effect on everyone!  There was a guy playing his boom box on the pier at supersonic levels, two guys under the pier tossing trash about and this guy who's been yelling for the past three days running on the sand. And the wind!  It started out onshore and switched off at 8am then turned 180º again at 9am.  The sea surface was appropriately confused.  The air temp was 56.0º and the water has somehow remained above 60º at 61.5º.  Not bad for January.  High tide at 10:41am +5.0' and low tide follows at 5:38pm +0.0' right after sunset.  It's a west swell out of 266º at 3.0' and it's 4' to 5' and walled and crashy.  Like this (#2)...

Okay, out mañana on our way to O'ahu and we'll be back on Monday with our island report...
