Full Boat Friday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Another spectacular sunrise on this frigid morning in the South Bay.  Our featured surfer, Evan, took  in some of the rays of the rising sun before hitting the water.

But it took a while before the sun made an impact on the temps.  It was 42.3º at sunrise and the water was 62.1º, not warm enough to heat the cockles of your heart.  Skies were clear and the wind was offshore 3 to 4kts.  The sea surface was smooth, but you could see a windline, maybe a couple of miles offshore.  Low tide was at 8:11am +2.4' and set up some real ankle breakers.  High tide will follow at 1:25pm +3.4'.  It's a west swell out of 267º at 2.6' and it was 3', tantamount to jumping off the loading dock...

Five surf team members, five great excuses for not being able to make it into the water.  Favorite excuse:  "My wetsuit is at X's house."  To X, "So where's your wetsuit?"  "Yeah, it's with hers."  Game, set, match...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it"
