Welcome To 2026 Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

So we've got 52 more Thursdays ahead of us to get it right.  You might not even be quite sure what that is right now, but we're thinking it will come to you.  This is the season for Epiphany(s) so yours might be on it's way...

Between storm sessions the pier was kinda smirking at the forecasted intensity of the weather. (#1)  It could'a been thinking "You should'a seen it in '83!  THAT was a storm."

Conditions were in flux all day long.  Visibility has ranged from a quarter of a mile at checkout to 20+ miles this afternoon under, cloudy, partly cloudy, clear skies.  Rain started the day and moved through pretty quickly.  The air temp was 56.0º and the water is 62.4º.  High tide was at 6:41am +6.9' and low tide followed at 2:10pm -1.6', for a great tidal shift.  A ragged combo swell out of the SSE (157º) at 3.0' and it was 2' to 3', mostly unorganized.

For many years we gave out "Sruf Familia" calendars.  Like most things the cost kept rising through the years until our calendar budget went bust.  We actually ran a couple and you can check out 2026 on the wall at Brother's.  It came to our attention that some folks would be willing to chip in to get an authentic Sruf Familia Calendar of their own.  They cost a little over $20 to make and ship, but we'll call it an even twenty.  Let us know by next Wednesday and we'll send in an order.  They include the tides for the South Bay.

If you thought Capitan Donaldo's Polio Pond was dangerous before, that was before the alligator came to town!  He's lurking on the edge! (#2)
