Spring Has Sprung Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Last Wednesday was the make-up contest between Redondo and South High.  South wasn't their usual self without standout Dylan Ragoné. Seems that he was out on that big day a couple of weeks ago at Burnout and fell down the face of a 15 foot macker landing headfirst on his board (which just happened to have gotten to the bottom before he did.)  He was initially knocked out and slipped in and out consciousness, while managing to get out of the water with some assistance.  He spent a couple of days in the hospital, with a whopper of a concussion/headache and is still having problems with balance, nausea and the alphabet...  Our best to Dylan, but Redondo won 99 to 66.

Cloudy spring morning with 7 miles visibility.  Winds were on early at 3.7kts and the sea surface was lightly chopped.  The air temperature was 57.9˚ and the water is 61.0˚ at the buoy.  High tide is at 5:11am +4.8' and low tide will be at 12:27pm -0.2'.  We have a SSW swell out of 202˚ at 2.6' and it's 1' to 2' and mushy, sloppy, wind-blown...  Blahhh...

Just gotta mention this year's Redondo Women's Surf Team.  Both the shortboard and longboard squads went 1-2-3!  Short:  1st Emma Waldinger, 2nd Sara Curran, 3rd Hali Honea.  Long:  1st Kelly Haraka, 2nd Paige Sullivan, 3rd Sara Curran.  Men's 1st place finishers were:  Kyle Beatty, Trevor LaShure, Tate Curran and Luke Meyers.  All Stars will be coming up soon!

In the long history history of the St. Francis hotel, no one has ever been towed from the adjacent dirt lot.  That is until Mike Leko's girlfriend Sara, parked the jeep there last week.  Rasta Pete got up the next morning, didn't recognize the wheels and thought some outlander had disrespected the parking guidelines and after a cursory check called the tow-truck.  The funny part was that Mike thought the whole thing was kinda funny - meanwhile Pete was embarrassed that he had jacked Mike's ride...  Questions:  Is that the last dirt lot in Hermosa?  Is that the original dirt?  How much for the dirt lot?
